And my grubby garden hands pull and push at my stomach, with no sense of what is going on around them but every intention of butchering what grows inside. A crumpled Church newsletter sulks at my bare feet, reminding me of my once naughty first graders. But now that that the tomatoes are rotten, I am not fruitful, I can not multiply.
